Overview

As a portfolio sample, this video has been edited down and skips over some sections of the tutorial.

Fictional Brief:

The client is a K-12 school district looking to train their teachers to use Schoology, the district's chosen learning management system. They requested an entire course created in Schoology itself. They wanted video tutorials to be the primary presentation of content and for there to be practice activities throughout the course.

Process:

I designed this tutorial using action mapping. I mapped out all of the tasks that a user needs to complete to be successful in adding the four learning materials - folders, files, assignments, and quizzes. From the action mapping, I outlined a scripted storyboard for the video content. During this time, I noted the actions to be carried out on the screen recording, the voiceover script, and the animations/effects/transitions to be added during video editing. Check out the complete Storyboard HERE.

Moving on to development of the course, I used Camtasia. I added multiple tracks to align the screen, voiceover, and effects. I utilized transitions, animations (such as zooming in on focus areas), cursor effects, and more.
